England's Coming Home!
After the success of last year's Liverpool Legends Charity Match, Santos Productions together with organisers Dennis Santos and Chiqui Fava have decided to do it again. This year the event will be even bigger and better. After setting up a great relationship with Alan Kennedy they approached him again this year and have secured a group of players from the England Selection including Peter Beardsley, Paul Merson, Viv Anderson and Matt Le Tissier. This is a very exciting prospect for all those involved. Once again they will play against 'Rock XI' a selection of veteran local players. The aim of this event is to raise awareness and as much money as possible for local charity RICC (Research Into Childhood Cancer). Last year they managed to raise a total of £29,500 and are aiming to surpass that this year. Once again the list of players has exceeded all expectations. No doubt this is due to the great support and hospitality by the Gibraltarian public during last year's event.
After the immense success of last year's event the organisers have once again secured RBS International as main sponsors of this event. Every player will once again be sponsored by various local companies. The official Line-Ups and Kits will be released at a later date. Everyone involved in this project is fired up and eager for the day to arrive.
Considering the magnitude of having these sporting heroes as our guests, the actual promotion and planning of the event has been out sourced to Santos Productions, headed by the very capable hands of Christian Santos, so we can be sure to expect more than just a football match. We have been told there will be pre-match entertainment as well as a half time show.
Santos Productions is overjoyed with the overwhelming support for this event as it is not only profitable for such a great charity (RICC) but also for the local community. The Liverpool Legends made many a grown man's dreams come true, but this the England Selection will cater for the whole community. The support of the community is now needed to make this event a resounding success. The RBS International England Legends Match in aid of RICC will take place on Monday 11th June 2007 at The Victoria Stadium. Kick Off will be at 19:15 and Tickets are just £10. Tickets will be available from Monday 28th May 2007 and can be obtained from Sacarello's Newsagents in Main Street and The Little Rock Café (Casemates). Tickets were totally sold out last year so make sure you purchase yours fast to avoid disappointment. Gibraltar get ready because England's Coming Home!
