The aim of the Rock XI vs Liverpool Legends Football Match is to raise awareness and as much money as possible for Research Into Childhood Cancer. The idea originated during a casual conversation between the would-be organisers where the concept of holding an original and above all profitable event in aid of charity was discussed.
Once the idea of challenging the Liverpool Legends to a football match was mentioned there was only one project that was ever going to be pursued. Thankfully, we have been lucky enough to find great support from the Liverpool Former Players Association, the Government of Gibraltar, the relevant Sporting Authorities, and our sponsors and event organisers Santos Productions in order to bring this project to fruition.
We now count on the support of the community to make the event a resounding success.
We hope that the event will exceed everybody's expectations and we manage to raise a substantial amount of money for this worthy cause.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that an amount of £29,500 has been raised by the RBS International Liverpool Legends Charity Match held in Gibraltar on 3rd October 2006, exceeding all initial expectations. A cheque for this amount has been presented to Research Into Childhood Cancer.
A sold-out Victoria Stadium saw a Liverpool Legends team live up to their name conducting themselves with the class and distinction they are renowned for both on and off the pitch. They were pushed to the limit by an impressive and enthusiastic Rock XI team with the Reds running out 2-0 winners with goals from goalscoring maestros Ian Rush and John Aldridge either side of half-time.
The organisers wish to thank everybody who contributed to make this once in a lifetime experience such a huge success.
